The TY class 4 Donnard have qualified for the national final of the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards.
They recently travelled to the semi-final of the competition at the Leinster ECO-DEN. They impressed a panel of expert judges by pitching their eco-action project to secure a place in the final, which takes place on May 22nd at the Mansion House in Dublin. There was great excitement in the TY class when the project was shortlisted for the final, where they will join over 80 other groups from around Ireland.
Their project entitled ‘Reducing Plastic Waste in Bush Post Primary' aims at promoting the use of refillable water bottles in the school and to reduce water waste. They also plan to install a fountain for student use.
The group is calling on the support of the public for their project ‘People’s Choice Award 2018’, an award decided by an online public poll. Voting is open from 9th May- 20th May. Voting can be done once a day, everyday until 20th May. Please click here to support them by voting!
