Work Experience
Work experience involves spending two weeks learning at first-hand about the work place. It normally takes place at the beginning of November and the end of February. Students arrange their own placements which should be organised as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Ideally, it should not be working with relatives. This work experience is monitored by a combination of phone calls to employers, employer’s monitoring form and student diaries.
The TY Folder contains the form the students fill out with their employer’s details and the employer evaluation form. Any student who does not submit their Transition Year work experience information will not receive certification.
Students are also permitted to source other work placements throughout the school year. This is in consultation with the Programme Coordinator and 4th year head.
